Webinar Description

This webinar will provide practical guidance for building owners, operators, and facility managers on managing indoor air quality during wildfire smoke events. Drawing from real-world case studies and current trends, the session will explore how smoke infiltrates buildings, the health impacts on occupants, and effective strategies for mitigation—including HVAC configuration, filtration upgrades, portable air cleaner use, and remote IAQ monitoring.

We will also introduce key guidance from ASHRAE Guideline 44-2024, which outlines best practices for protecting occupants through HVAC design and operation, and the Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) Guideline for Managing the Impacts of Wildfires on Buildings, which provides actionable recommendations for filtration, operational readiness, and smoke response based on Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) levels. Participants will leave with tools to assess readiness and implement effective response plans to safeguard occupant health during wildfire smoke events.
